Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies

Would you be willing to share what you’ve made for others to view? This looks really neat!

not a fan of cardano, I want Bitcoin to succeed first as digital gold and Ethereum as decentralized platform to code stuff. It’s better to learn to walk before we run.

I think that’s a very good point…

When I first got into crypto and was looking for other projects to invest in besides Bitcoin, I researched Cardano and was very impressed by their rigorous academic approach. It made a lot of sense to me that you really need to research and test these kinds of protocols and platforms thoroughly before “unleashing” them. In that sense, Cardano isn’t in a rush to run before learning how to walk — slow and steady wins the race.

I’ve also always enjoyed listening to Charles Hoskinson. He explains things really well and strikes me as a real visionary. However, it could be that the world just isn’t ready to take on something as ambitious as Cardano for a good number of years yet, and in that sense your point is a good one. I must admit, I did pull the plug on my Cardano investment a few months ago, and exchanged it for more Bitcoin. But that was more to do with a general concern about altcoin price performance in general, rather than disillusionment with the actual Cardano project. I do still follow the project on a regular basis… but I’m definitely open to listen to views both for and against…

Then you probably know much more than I do. If you invest in something you should spit to the bottom.
I’m very curious about Ethereum’s Casper and sharding. Because of my job, I don’t have the luxury to learn many other projects. So I keep learning as much as possible about Bitcoin and Ethereum.
It’s an endless rabbit hole :hole::rabbit2:

//ps. I’m enjoying your Homework very much! It’s so well written.

Totally! Learning and researching one thing leads to a whole load of other questions. The more you learn about blockchain and crypto, the more you realise how much there is still to learn! … I don’t regret taking the red pill though!

I do think that because of the “endless rabbit hole” it’s probably wise for us to be selective and realistic about what we should attempt to master; otherwise we’ll just end up knowing bits of everything, without really knowing anything meaningfully.
Before specialising, I want to really get the fundamentals locked down first, and then blast off from there :fire::rocket::fire: … so that’s why I’m here

It’s really nice to hear what you think about my homework posts! … very encouraging and motivating! I do actually spend a long time writing them: I like to get to the bottom of things, and trying to express things clearly in writing really makes me realise what I’ve understood and what I still need to research further. It also helps what I’m learning to sink in, so hopefully it won’t be forgotten too easily…

I’ve heard about them… before I go and look them up just to check, isn’t Casper something to do with Ethereum’s move to proof-of-stake? … or is it Ethereum’s equivalent of Bitcoin’s Lightning?.. or is that sharding?.. aren’t side chains involved in there somewhere too?
:rofl::joy: … I definitely need to go and check… some more :hole: :rabbit2: side-branches to add to my never-ending list / explorer’s map! :upside_down_face:

PS

Do you mean that if you choose to invest in a specific project, you should stick with it and ride out the lows, because if you chose it, you should believe in it? … Is that a Belgian saying?

hehe,
Casper is about going to ‘proof of Stake’. Sharding is about grouping stuff together a bit like sidechains anchored to a main chain.
I meant, before you invest in something, you need to do your own research as deep as possible
ps. I even think i’m gonna copy all of your homework :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It’s actually been public for quite some time. Here’s the link:

Hi. I have been drawn to your jpg posting of answers and interrelated thought. Just reading the notes here. I started taking notes on these lectures from the get go too. Thanks for using this program and indicating the site. I will check it out. Most people are visual learners and this program works to enhance that innate ability, but it is also showing the kinesthetic relation of process. Very interesting.

Hi

I have one question though. Can someone please tell me whether storage is going to be a major problem? When blockchain is fully utilised in the future, where are they going to find the storage space for the ‘forever-unending-heaping’ of new information upon the old ? Thanks

Storage is not just a block chain problem. Block chains are tiny compared to other ridiculous data sets eating the world right now. Things like the NSA will foot the technology development bill through beasts like DARPA. If they want storage production at scale they’ll have to loose any new tech to public industry. The NSA will prefer commercial-off-the-shelf solutions.

Hi,
I’m enjoying it and taking notes.
Great to understand how the different generations work, and how it’s possible to program apps, dapps, manage money, smart contracts that respond to events. Very interesting.

After losing money trying to find the next bitcoin, and trading not so responsibly I finally found a investment that worth the while Ivan, Thanks for the content so far.
Do you have any plan to register the Certifications on a Blockchain? That would be of great value to the Academy and for the alumni.
Tks

I’ve been trading crypto part-time for nearly 2 years, but now, at the start of a new decade, decided that I need to expand my understanding of blockchain in general.

I signed up just a few hours ago, and have completed all assignments to this point. My mind has officially been blown to smithereens. I already have an outline for a massive project aimed at getting value-for-money for the tax payers of my beautiful city, and I haven’t even gotten to the actual programming stuff yet.

My plan is to do the various programming courses so that I have a high-level understanding of the infrastructure, but recruit experienced programmers to develop my vision to its full potential.

Thanks Ivan. You always say “be a builder” on your YouTube channel, so a builder I will be.

Excuse the rant. I’m just excited. What was the question again?

Hi Ivan,
I must say that I’m enjoying the course very much, as i have been out of education for over 37 year i was a bit worried that my brain would be to slow to consume the information, the course is set out very well, and like you said it forces you to read, write and listen so information sinks in. I think that I’m doing okay but can’t be sure as i don’t see the questions i have been answering being marked, how can i be sure?

  1. Am i really understanding the course?
  2. Dose the Blockchain 101 for beginners course get marked once the whole course is completed ?

Wich questions are you talking about? Please tag me if you have any questions. lately I’m monitoring the bitcoin blockchain 101 section to help out.
When you complete the course you will get a certificate.

Thank you for the reply, I was referring to the blockchain 101 homework, the questioned i answered were not marked, so what i was wondering is do i need to complete the full course blockchain 101 before it’s marked.

you can normally ‘mark it as complete’ yourself.

what i’m asking is dose anyone asses my work?

unfortunately not, there are too many students to review and assess all of these. But I keep an eye on this section of blockchain 101 to answer questions.
